The latest and greatest version of Shimano’s renowned XT pedal, the PD-M8100 is the further evolution in their range of mountain bike race pedals. While not much has changed from the previous generation, which is a good thing, there have been some improvements and new technology from XTR has trickled down. This includes an updated and refined body shape which offers increased edge-to-edge contact, resulting in a superior shoe to pedal interface, improving power transmission through the pedals. They retain their great dirt and mud-shedding capabilities and remain serviceable for an extended lifespan. With their proven and reliable SPD mechanism and weighing in at just 342g, these are a great choice for marathon, cross-country or CX.
